BELIEFS

What We Believe

Whether you have a deep relationship with God or are curious, come check out a Sunday and feel free to ask questions.

Our beliefs are rooted in Scripture and describe how we view God, Jesus, humanity, the Bible, and God’s redemptive work in the world.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is God’s Word to all people. It tells the true story of God, man, sin,
redemption, and reconciliation. Scripture is comprised of a total of sixty-six books: thirty-nine books of the Old Testament and twenty-seven books of the New Testament. Since the Word of God is inspired by God, the Bible is the supreme source of truth, without error, and completely relevant for daily living.

God

We believe in one God, who exists in three equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God the Father is the Creator of heaven and earth. God the Father is great, all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, unchanging, completely worthy of our trust, and holy. He is loving, compassionate, and faithful to His people and His promises. God is sovereign, created all things for the praise of His glory, and intends for man to live in a right relationship with Him.

Jesus

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He was present with the Father at creation and had fellowship with the Father and Spirit before man was created. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless human life, and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people through His death on the cross. After three days, Jesus rose from the dead, defeating death so that we could have life. He is God’s plan for bringing those who are enemies of God back into a right relationship with Him. Through his substitutionary death, He revealed divine love and upheld divine justice, removing our guilt and reconciling us to God. He ascended to heaven and will return to earth one day to reign as King.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus. He unites believers to Jesus Christ through faith and dwells within them. He provides Christians with the power for righteous living, an understanding of spiritual truth, and the guidance for doing what is right. He convicts people of sin, comforts, gives spiritual gifts, and makes people more like Christ.

Holy Communion

In remembrance of the Lord’s Last Supper with his disciples before He started the journey which led to His death on the cross, we observe Holy Communion.  Matthew 26:26-28, tells us that while eating their last meal together, Jesus broke the bread.  After thanking God, He gave it to His disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”  Likewise, He thanked God again and gave the disciples a cup of wine.  He said, “All of you, drink from it.  ‘This is the blood of the covenant,’ which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”  We feel it is important to remind ourselves of the great suffering and sacrifice He made for each of us.  We observe Holy Communion monthly during our Sunday morning, worship service.

Baptism

Just as Jesus was baptized by His cousin, John the Baptist, we follow His example.  This rite serves as a witness to others that one has repented and been forgiven of his sins.  Symbolizing that a person’s sins have been washed away, the new believer publicly acknowledges that he is turning away from previous sins to begin a new life of living for Christ.  Our practice is baptism by immersion.
